September 15-19, 2008

Fee: $795.00

Oregon has some of the most extraordinary coastal scenery on the west coast, from expansive beaches and imposing monoliths to intricate sand patterns at your feet.  We will stay in the small ocean-side communities of Gold Beach and Bandon, Oregon.  From the Gold Beach base, we will explore south to the beaches of Pistol River and Whales Head, and then into northern California to photograph among the great redwoods for half a day.  Traveling north to Bandon, we will explore the amazing beaches and cliffs around Bandon and Shore Acres State Park.

In September, the weather can range from sun to fog to rain, which makes the scenery even more dramatic and creates interesting photographic challenges. We drive to all of our destinations during the field trips and no serious hiking is required.  You can walk as much or as little from the vehicles as you prefer and find amazing subjects to photograph. Half day indoor sessions are reserved for discussions on the technical aspects of photography and for review of both the instructors’ and participants’ photographs. Participants can schedule one-on-one critique sessions with each instructor at no additional cost. Nothing is scheduled during the evenings except relaxing and eating.

The cost of food, lodging, and transportation is not included in the workshop fee.  Accommodations in Gold Beach and Bandon are modern and reasonably priced.  You can download accommodations information and a registration form on the Contact/Registration page of this website. The workshop is open to all digital and film users, color or black and white and we limit the class size so that you can work closely with each instructor.  The Oregon workshop is an opportunity to learn in a relaxed and supportive atmosphere, and to photograph in an area of astounding beauty and diversity.
